The Kiwanis Club of Raleigh welcomes Jeff Merritt, Executive Director of the Centennial Authority and Lenovo Center, for a discussion on the future of sports, entertainment, and economic development in Raleigh.
As Executive Director of the Centennial Authority, Merritt oversees one of North Carolina’s premier entertainment venues — home to the Carolina Hurricanes, NC State Wolfpack Men's Basketball, major concerts, touring events, and regional economic activity. The Authority also manages ongoing arena modernization efforts and long-term redevelopment plans surrounding the Lenovo Center campus.
The Lenovo Center and surrounding entertainment district generate substantial economic impact for Wake County and North Carolina through tourism, hospitality, live entertainment, collegiate athletics, and professional sports. Current redevelopment plans include significant arena renovations, expanded mixed-use development, new entertainment spaces, retail, dining, hospitality, and public gathering areas designed to strengthen the district as a year-round destination.
Join us for a conversation about the evolving role of the Centennial Authority, the future of the Lenovo Center campus, and how large-scale entertainment investments continue shaping Raleigh’s growth and national profile.
