The Kiwanis Club of Raleigh welcomes Elaine Marshall, North Carolina’s longest-serving Secretary of State and the first woman ever elected to a statewide executive office in North Carolina history. Since first taking office in 1997, Secretary Marshall has led efforts to modernize state government services, expand online business registration, reduce red tape for entrepreneurs, and strengthen protections against fraud and financial scams.
A former teacher, attorney, small business owner, and state senator, Secretary Marshall has served under six governors across eight terms in office. Her leadership has earned national recognition for advancing electronic commerce and improving access to government services for businesses and citizens alike.
