The Kiwanis Club of Raleigh welcomes James P. Cain, former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, for a discussion on leadership, diplomacy, and global engagement.
A North Carolina native and graduate of Wake Forest University, Cain has built a distinguished career across law, business, and public service. He was a partner at Kilpatrick Stockton, where he helped establish the firm’s Research Triangle office, and later served as President and COO of the Carolina Hurricanes, leading the team to the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals.
Appointed by President George W. Bush in 2005, Ambassador Cain served in Copenhagen until 2009, overseeing thirteen U.S. government agencies and advancing initiatives in national security, energy cooperation, and international commerce. He became widely known for his 2,500-kilometer bicycle “Rediscovery Tour” of Denmark, an innovative public diplomacy effort connecting with communities across the country.
Following his diplomatic service, Cain has continued advising companies on international strategy and engagement. His contributions to U.S.–Danish relations were recognized with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog.
